A couple months ago I got to give a presentation to the youth at the Earth Conservation Corps (ECC).  They’re a group of 18-22 year old inner city youth who live a very different life than I do.  They live in violent neighborhoods and have a life expectancy of 25.  I was afraid that we could not relate to one another.

But I was wrong.  Once I gave my presentation, they totally “got it” and got excited about getting involved in SLAP, signing the Declaration, and other projects.  They committed to doing the work to get the SLAP poles put up around DC!

We went through the city of DC with Google Earth and saw what would be affected.  Things like the electricity generating station, the Jefferson Memorial, and ECC headquarters would be under water if we do nothing about Global Warming and Greenland melts. 

I feel like they are my friends and I’m super excited about working with them!
